Mondo Giallo -- The Best Of The Giallo Soundtracks 1968-1974

"After their first opus "Yuri Gagarin", tribute to the legendary astronaut, London/France based duet Guess What (Graham Mushnik and Luke Warmcop) are back with "Mondo Giallo" - the soundtrack to four imaginary Italian films from the 60's and 70's. The combo explored all musical facets of the Giallo cinema, from the dramatic "crime jazz" to the sleazy erotic bossa-nova, without omitting the psychedelic and spooky accents of a baroque horror moment...; All this interpreted in the band's distinctive melodic and multi-signatured style.
Hammond organ and fuzzy Rhodes piano are prominent, percussions and exotic arrangements (dulcimer and xylophone among others) parsimoniously poured in - 12 unmissable tunes with groove, taste, and Ispirazione!"

CD/LP/MP3 available now on Imagenes Records.

Yuri Gagarin -- 12 Modern Odes To History's Greatest Spaceman

In 1971 (2008), Luke and Graham started working on new instrumental pieces inspired by the life of Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin. In 1972 (2009) their first LP was recorded and released on Catapulte. Subtitled "12 Modern Odes To History's Greatest Spaceman", it explores the inner-world and outer-world of Gagarin and his adventure.

Over the course of tango, rebetiko or bossa signatures, a throng of harmonious cinematic themes combine with a deep groove and a pinch of psychedelia; all this livened up by whiffs of 60's proto-electronic music.

Early Recordings & Unreleased Tracks

In 1968 (2005) Guess What recorded their first EP, "Guess What Plato Told Me".
It features 4 rather electronic pieces with strange tempos and harmonies, inspired by Ancient Greece and metaphysics.

Here's the last track from this unreleased UFO:

And here's the whole Ep to downlaod: Guess What Plato Told Me Ep.

The year after, while on a journey in Amsterdam, they directed a science-fiction B-movie, "Danger Island", which never got screened. The 50 minute film tells the story of the last 7 human beings on Earth, stuck on an island in the North Sea.
