BIO

Since they first formed in 2005, organ-drums duet Guess What have been touring Europe performing their set of danceable and mystical grooves. Inspired by astronomy and the Space age, Ancient philosophers, B-movies from the 60’s/70’s and also by the fascinating sounds of the East, the masked pair have also released 3 beautiful albums and been working with many side-projects.

BIOGRAPHY

Luke Warmcop (drums, percussions) and Graham Mushnik (organ, synths, melodica) formed Guess What in France in 2005. Their debut EP, "Guess what Plato told me", was a mix of experimental drum loops and atmospheric jazz/bossa themes in quite a metaphysical and cosmic mood. In 2006 they recorded the soundtrack to “Danger Island” - a science fiction B-movie – in Amsterdam. None of these 2 projects were released.

Warmcop and Mushnik then founded the label Catapulte Records with Juste Voyant, with whom they play in other bands (Pissinboy, L’Orchestre du Montplaisant) and moved to London.

From 2008 on the duet performed live in London and Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina & Croatia) a set of instrumental pieces dedicated to Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin (hence their first album "Yuri Gagarin - 12 Modern Odes to History's Greatest Spaceman”) and to the mighty Italian "Giallo" cinema ; they appeared on stage in masks, turbans and togas.

Their second LP “Mondo Giallo” is the soundtrack to 4 imaginary films from the 60’s and 70’s, and came out on Imagenes Recordings in June 2012. While conquering new countries with their ever-evolving show (Benelux, Switzerland, and the whole South half of Europe touring with legendary Mike Watt and the Missingmen in 2014), Guess What's researches and directions seem to focus on the Arab mathematician/astronomer Al-Khawarizmi – they are currently exploring the fascinating sounds of the Middle-East. Their 3rd LP “Al-Khawarizmi” came out in Spring 2015 on Catapulte.
